Senior Project Links

The theme of the group project was a rap song that summarizes our life at RCHS. Hardest part was matching the scenes to the music videos. The easiest part was making the videos :3. Too bad we didn't include all the lyrics since time was limited. Phooey.

Senior Farewell Projects

Our group consist of Steven, Bailey, and Mesceret. We're making a clean rap song that summarizes our school. Together, we will create the lyrics and find an instrumental song. As far as video production, it is yet to be discussed.

Capstone Presentation Reflection

My capstone presentation was much less than I anticipated. I had to present my project two hours after the judges started judging other students. I didn't felt nervous since I'm Steven Nguyen, and Steven Nguyen doesn't feel nervous (I know. I'm awesome.) By the time the judges got to mine, I sense a bit of tiredness, and the questions asked were basic. To me, the judges weren't much in depth in my project that I had put for the entire school year. I felt unappreciative, but glad at the same time. My friend's capstone impressed one person so much that the person was willing to give him a job. Why can't I have theses nice things? (Oh yeah, because I'm too AWESOME). My website didn't go as exact as my wireframe. I had to change some of the order to better fit my website for the users. Overall, I think the presentation was all right. I enjoyed checking out other student's booth, and their passion. All wasn't much a waste of time, I got the experience of researching and problem-solving in a way that I have never done before. I can apply new methods of writing my research paper by the time I'm on an university.

Capstone Presentation Assets

So my booth is going have some of the necessary components relating to my capstone. Since my end product is dealing against stress with massage tools, I'll display some of the tools. There will be a head scalp, a non-battery back massager, and stress balls. All these tools will be shipped in a box, and I can personally deliver the tools along with a brochure to spread the awareness of veterinary stress. I'll include an online map of the nearby veterinary clinics to demonstrate the places to deliver the package. I used Of course that means I'll have a website displayed, and there's a possibility I'll bring my pet Chihuahua along. There'll will be table cloth hopefully!

Capstone: Veterinary Stress Infographic

My Infographic poster represent some of the problems and some of the solutions of my Capstone. Some of the problems included lawsuits, low-paying salary, and immense workload. Some of the solutions included time management, communication, and exercise and comfort. I had to do some research of some examples of past veterinarians who suicide as well as the salary report from 2006-2012. One of the hardest part of creating this poster was the data chart. It was difficult to input the numbers and have the format that I wanted. The easiest part was typing my name when I was completely done with my poster design. I created back in Winter Term, which only included the title "Veterinary Stress". As far as the poster is right now, I'll need to fix the margins and font sizes.

PSA for Capstone Project Concept

https://vimeo.com/119298085

My Statement of Intent, as mentioned in my previous blog post, has been identified and illustrated through my PSA video link right up above. I addressed the all the key points, used appropriate visual and audio, and created a melancholy mood. I did, however, not done narration because I felt that it would disrupt the melancholy mood while the music is playing. I shot this video at home, instead of a veterinary work place due to limitations. I didn't get to address my fundraisers idea at the end of the video due to time constraints. Easiest part of the video was filming my dog sitting on the table. Hardest part was my dog "video-bombing"our scenes. Overall, I liked the video. I might have to fix the statistics. Some were to fast to read.

PSA Youtube Comments relating to stress & PSA Outline

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzrjEP5MOT4

This is a video from ASAPScience about stress and whether it can actually kill an individual. I do confirm that stress can actually kill an individual. Some of the ways to improve the high level of stress is to have more interaction among other people.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqVpj5h2c-Q

This is a PSA video to get all the animals spayed and neutered. So many animals are being put down for not having loving homes. One thing I got out from this video is how the veterinarian talks about how hard it is to put down an animal. It is stressful to put an animal down and can affect the veterinarian's health.

Your PSA:

  • What are the key points you will emphasis?
    • Some of the key points I will address are stress and animal euthanization
  • What visual and audio are appropriate?
    • Animals, doctors, sadness, speak in front of the camera and narrate.
  • What type of PSA you will use?
    • I'm doing the typically sad PSA you normally see in television with the ASPCA.
  • Outline of proposed structure.
    • In the beginning of the video, I'll show sad animals from my local animal shelter or veterinary office. I'll play sad music. Then I'll transition the sadness into hope and resolute. I'll probably ask for donations as part of my fundraisers.

Capstone Project Statement of Intent

One of our everyday problems we, as human, inevitably face is stress. Having too much stress can affect the person mentally and physically. Veterinarians are among the most stress occupational career out of most careers. Excessive work hours, extensive work load, euthanize beloved animals, and the list goes on and on. These stressors can lead to increase use of drugs, consumption of alcohol, and suicidal rates. My capstone project involves finding ways to improve the working environment not just for veterinarians but for any career occupations. It will be ways I can apply to my career, a veterinarian, to have an awesome time working with low levels of stress.
